RELEASE CD MILESTONES DURING HISWA

On 4th March 2011 the CD Milestones by Maarten Russchen will be released during the HISWA. Maarten will be present at the Hiswa Zeiltheater on Friday 4th, Saterday 5th and Sunday 6th March to present the CD and perform a number of pieces live on stage.

TEAM SHORTHANDED

Yesterday I was accepted as a member of the Team Shorthanded.nl The idea is to share experiences, to learn from each other and to have some good fun together. The team has an excellent staff to support media and communication.

CD MILESTONES

The CD Milestones will be released in January/February 2011. The album contains music for acoustic guitar solo, composed and performed by me. The sea has been the main inspiration for this music and the compositions were partly written at sea. You can pre-order the CD by sending an email to Maarten.Russchen@hotmail.com with your name and address and by paying EUR 15 into the ABN AMRO bank account 50.86.68.158 of Vreemde Eend BV, Amersfoort. After receipt the CD will be sent to your address. The profits (hopefully) will be fully used to finance the racing program of Home of Jazz.

One of my great new supporters is Bart Rosemuller of Bootverkopers.nl. I am very pleased with his support. But I have to be careful with this guy. He will sell my boat in no time, haha ! No, I won't change horses. The VQ32 is an excellent boat for the heavy stuff. Really looking forward to be out on the water again. Skating is fun, but now that we've done that an early spring would be most welcome.

ANOTHER LESSON LEARNED

After the Round Britain things looked pretty awful. Empty pockets. Difficulties everywhere. Taxman banging on the door. Not seen my kids in ages. Hard to focus on my work at the office. I saw no possibility to continue sailing. Not enouth time, not enough money. I decided to quit.

Many people said that I would regret this rigurous step, and I knew I would. But I felt I had no other choice.

Half a year later and things have calmed down. I put myself back together. Written some new stuff. Played a number of good gigs with my trio. Recorded some pieces for guitar solo. Did a half marathon in 1.44hrs. Felt much better again.

Finally I started to look for the possibilities to continue racing, in stead of only seeing the difficulties. And now I found a solution. Fantastic!
